A “smash” was heard moments before a car was set alight in a suspected arson attack in Ipswich last night.
Firefighters and police were called after a Volkswagen Polo was spotted on fire in Richmond Road, near the Bramford Road junction, at around 11.30pm on Sunday.
The blaze was put out in around 10 minutes and there were no injuries reported at the scene.
Police confirmed they are treating the incident as arson.
A Suffolk Constabulary spokesman said: “We are investigating the incident as arson. We urge anyone with any information about the incident to get in touch with us.”
One fire crew from Princes Street was sent to the scene at 11.28pm.
A Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “A smash was heard by the caller who then looked outside to see the car on fire.
“One hose reel jet was used to put out the fire by 11.43pm.”
No arrests have been made.
