A PEDESTRIAN who suffered life-threatening injuries following a collision with a lorry in Ipswich has been transferred to a specialist hospital.The 26-year-old man was struck by a trailer on the back of the vehicle as he walked along Landseer Road, shortly after 3am yesterday.

A PEDESTRIAN who suffered life-threatening injuries following a collision with a lorry in Ipswich has been transferred to a specialist hospital.

The 26-year-old man was struck by a trailer on the back of the vehicle as he walked along Landseer Road, shortly after 3am on Saturday.

An ambulance was dispatched to the scene within ten minutes before taking the man to Ipswich Hospital for emergency treatment.

A spokesman for Suffolk police yesterday said the man had been transferred to Papworth Hospital in Cambridgeshire for treatment.

Papworth Hospital is a world-famous centre for heart surgery.

It is understood the man was “side swiped” by a lorry's trailer, resulting in serious chest injuries.

The accident took place near to the Rivers Social Club, on the outskirts of the Greenwich estate.
