Giant snails, lizards, spiders and snakes were among some of the exotic animals at Chantry Library in Ipswich this morning, as more than 100 youngsters learnt about creatures from around the world.
The Zoolab event kicked off at the library at 11am, where intrigued children were able to get up close to animals not frequently found among Ipswich’s wildlife.
The children learnt about their habitats and features, before getting the chance to hold them.
Staff were thrilled with the successful turnout, which reached triple figures, and the efforts of the Friends of Chantry Library which organised the free event.
James Powell, a spokesman for Suffolk Libraries, said: “It’s was very successful – we had more than 100 children through to learn about animals from all around the world, and they really enjoyed getting to see and touch the animals up close in their own local library.”
