WORK on a 100,000 project to resurface the busy A14 Port of Felixstowe Road has been cancelled tonight because of the snowy weather.

The project to repair the ruts caused by lorries, resurface the dual carriageway, repaint white lines and replace road studs began last week and was expected to take five working nights.

Work on the east and westbound carriageways which was due to start tonight, is now delayed until tomorrow.

Both carriageways will be affected tomorrow night, then the westbound carriageway only will be affected for two further nights.

The work will take place between 8pm and 6am to reduce disruption, although lorry drivers and night workers may experience moderate delays.

A 50mph speed limit will be in place.

Traffic going eastbound will be diverted off the A14 at the Felixstowe Road exit (J61), pass along the A154 Trinity Avenue, around Dock Gate No.2 roundabout, along the A154 Walton Avenue, and rejoin the A14 at Dock Gate One roundabout.

During the westbound work, traffic will go from A14/A154 Dock Gate No.1 along the A154 Walton Avenue, around Dock Gate Two roundabout and along A154 Trinity Road.

Before rejoining the A14 westbound entry slip road, traffic will be escorted by a convoy vehicle through the remaining length of works area.
