BIN collections in St Edmundsbury have today been suspended because of the poor weather.

Council workers in Bury St Edmunds and Haverhill were out in force during the morning but were encountering increasing problems with ungritted roads and cars parked in residential areas as the morning wore on.

As a result, St Edmundsbury Borough Council decided to suspend its collections for the day.

A spokeswoman said: "Please leave your bin out and we will get to them as quickly as we can but obviously that is heavily dependent on whether the refuse freighters can get down your roads safely."

Elsewhere, West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village and Country Park remains closed because snow has rendered the paths invisible which has put the public at risk of falling into ditches or frozen water.

All our other St Edmundsbury parks remain open.
