A TELEVISION star has celebrated with youngsters in Ipswich as they celebrated winning an achievement award.

Actor Matt Littler, who plays Max Cunningham in teen soap Hollyoaks, presented Parkside Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Spring Road with the Becta ICT (information and communication technology) Mark award.

Parkside was the first PRU in the country and the first school in Suffolk to gain the accolade, which highlights its success with using new technology, including the internet, to help students learn.

Headteacher Stuart Bailey, said: “It's fantastic to get this award and it means a lot to our students. It is also great to get someone like Matt to come along to present it.

“Technology is embedded in our curriculum, we use things like video conferencing and the youngsters have access to our website from home.

“ICT is such an important tool and it is great that our level of achievement has been recognised.”
