Four Suffolk social workers came within metres of conquering Britain’s three highest peaks but still managed to raise more than £1,690 for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

Fading light meant the Social Walkers had to turn back at the summit of Ben Nevis the highest mountain on the Three Peaks Challenge.

Ashley Cogger, David Marcus, Tara Green and Children’s Social Worker of the Year, Emily Tiplady-Ead, aimed to climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in 24 hours. After 29 hours and 55 minutes, the tired team reached the foot of Snowdon.

Emily called it an incredible adventure that included bouts of laughter, fear and tiredness, as well as incredible scenery.

“Although we’re a little disappointed we only made it 95% of the way up Ben Nevis, we knew it was the sensible choice to make,” she added.

“It was an amazing experience and we’re really proud of the amount we raised for EACH.”
