A FAMILY is today seeking compensation after being left for weeks with no lounge furniture after a catalogue company twice messed up their order.

Dave and Tina Cawdron are furious with Littlewoods - and have now cancelled their order after ten weeks of waiting because they were told they still might not get it in time for Christmas.

“After the first time they messed up we were so sure it would be all right second time around that we got rid of our present suite so we were ready,” said chip shop worker Mr Cawdron, of Grange Road, Felixstowe.

“Then they rang and said it had gone wrong again and would have to be reordered - that would mean another five weeks.

“It might have made it here just in time for Christmas - if not we would be left sitting around on the floor when the relatives come.”

The couple - who have children Sarah, 17, and Douglas, 12 - ordered a new coffee-coloured £499 sofa plus a free armchair from Littlewoods.

After five weeks, two burgundy sofa chairs turned up and had to be sent back. Then after another five weeks the company rang to say there were further problems and there would be more delays.

“We are absolutely disgusted with the service we have received,” said Mr Cawdron.

“I have been in touch with trading standards officers to get some advice and will be seeking compensation for the distress and problems we have been caused.

“We are regular customers of Littlewoods and have bought many things over the years but have never had problems like this.”

He would now be ordering a suite from another company.

Anthony Taylor, head of external communications for Littlewoods Shop Direct Group, said: “We'd like to apologise to the customer for the error with their order.

“The delay was down to the fact that these items of furniture are handmade to order.”
