MOURNERS will today gather in Ipswich for the funeral of Ipswich soldier Private Aaron McClure.

Hundreds of friends, family and army personnel are expected to lines the streets near the 19-year-old's Marlow Road home to pay their respects as a lone bagpiper plays a lament.

Pte McClure, a former Westbourne High School pupil, was killed in a suspected friendly fire incident in Afghanistan last month.

He was serving with the Royal Anglian Regiment and was one of three soldiers killed.

A gun salute will sound as his coffin, draped in the Union flag, arrives at St Thomas Church, in Bramford Lane, at noon.

Following the service, two police escorts will lead the hearse and funeral cars to Silent Street.

The bagpiper will then lead a procession through the town centre, past Dogs Head Street, and up to Great Colman Street. Some of the roads will be closed while the procession is taking place.

The family will then head to the Millennium Cemetery, in Tuddenham Road, for a private ceremony.

See tonight's Evening Star for full coverage of the funeral.
