CHILDREN at a Kesgrave school are soon to get the vital ingredient for a new cookery project - thanks to TXU.

The Heath School pupils need £10,000 to transform a storeroom into a kitchen facility and a fete, which takes place on June 22 at Bell Lane is expected to raise up to £2,000 towards the costs - and this will be boosted by another £1,000 by TXU.

CHILDREN at a Kesgrave school are soon to get the vital ingredient for a new cookery project – thanks to TXU.

The Heath School pupils need £10,000 to transform a store-room into a kitchen. A fete on June 22 at Bell Lane is expected to raise up to £2,000 towards the costs – and this will be boosted by another £1,000 from TXU.

The enery company became involved through two of its employees – Paul Phillips and Bev Worrall – who both have children at the school.

Paul and Bev, who are based at Suffolk House in Ipswich, applied to TXU for support through its employee matched funding scheme.

Under the scheme, employees' fundraising efforts are matched pound-for-pound by TXU up to £500. If a group of employees raise money TXU can match the amount raised up to a total of £3,000.

Paul, who is treasurer of the schools' Parents and Friends Association and is helping to organise the fete with Bev, said he was delighted with the support from TXU.

He said: "The fete is going to be a fantastic fundraising event for the school. There will be bouncy castles, a raffle, lucky dips and display stands by groups such as the scouts.

"All in all, with TXU's help, we hope to be able to hand over £3,000 towards the cost of the kitchen so the children can learn how to cook."

Paul Henry, TXU's UK community relations manager, said: "Matched funding enables TXU not only to support worthwhile causes but also our employees who work so hard to raise funds for them."
