An African/Caribbean market at Ipswich Waterfront on Saturday will help to celebrate Black History Month in Ipswich.
A workshop for parents and tips on hair care are just two of the highlights of the market at the University of Suffolk as part of the town’s celebrations of 30 years of Black History Month.
The parenting workshop, led by Nafaunkh Un Nefer, looks at “Raising Black Boys to Men”. Nafaunkh has more than 30 years’ experience dealing with the issues faced by young Black boys, tackling gang culture, teenage pregnancy and much more.
The workshop is at 3.30pm but the market itself runs from noon to 6pm.
The hair workshop at 1.30pm is called “Caring for your natural coils, curls and waves”. It is designed to help parents and children care for African/Caribbean and African/European hair.
A range of products will be on sale at the market including books, African clothes, jewellery, dolls, natural hair and beauty products, house furnishings and lots more.
