The Evening Star Northumbrian, on July 19, will give people the chance to travel from Ipswich to York, Durham, and Newcastle upon Tyne for a day discovering the delights of north east England.
From Durham buses will take passengers to the nearby Beamish Open Air museum, recreating life in the north of England during the early years of the 20th century.
The final destination of the train is Newcastle, which narrowly missed out on winning the title of European Capital of Culture recently.
But there is a wealth of things to see and do in the capital of the north east – especially beside the River Tyne with its new footbridge linking Newcastle with Gateshead and the Baltic Art Gallery.
York is known as the ancient capital of northern England, and passengers choosing to leave the train there will have most of the day to examine its history – everything from the city walls and the ancient Minster to the National Railway Museum.
The train will leave Ipswich at about 8.15am – passengers from Felixstowe, Trimley, Derby Road, and Westerfield will be able to use their tickets on the Anglia Railways service train which leaves Felixstowe at 7.30am.
On the return journey the InterCity train will complete its trip at Felixstowe.
The Evening Star Northumbrian is being run in association with East Anglian-based Nenta Traintours.
Exact timings will be published about two weeks before the trip on July 19, but provisional plans suggest the train will return at approximately 10.45pm.
It will also pick up passengers at Ipswich, Stowmarket and Bury St Edmunds.
Among the most popular tickets on the train are the Premier Class seats - which include all meals served at your seat: a full English breakfast, a light lunch (or packed lunch for those getting off at York) and a full evening dinner.
These cost £104.50 for adults and £89.50 for children.
A few of these are still available for people wanting a really top-class day-out. First class non-catering seats have already sold out but there are still plenty of standard class seats at £43.75 adults and £21.75 for children.
