Stenderup, who was not represented in court, told magistrates he was late for a meeting and was stupid to speed.

He was banned for six weeks, fined £300 and ordered to pay £35 costs.

He said the acceleration was intended as a courtesy to following drivers and Wade did not intend to continue at that speed.

He asked them to consider alternatives to a disqualification.

But Wade was banned for three weeks. He was also fined and ordered to pay £35 costs.
