The one-time British champion motorcross rider, of Kesgrave, Ipswich, who is in his early 60s, had been recovering in Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge after a fall at the Foxhall Stadium in Ipswich last Thursday.
He suffered a slight hairline fracture to his skull and sustained wrist and shoulder injuries.
John took over Foxhall co-promoter in 1989 after a successful career as a speedway rider. He was believed to have been preparing for the Good Friday meeting between the Witches and the Peterborough Panthers when the accident happened.
