SpringFest run by the myFestival group returned to the town in four different venues bringing a range of established and up and coming acts.
“We were really pleased with SpringFest this year” said Ian Matthews, one of the myFestival directors.
“We had a fantastic line-up of acts and some of our best audiences yet.
“Feedback from visitors has also been amazing”.
Among those taking part in this year;s event were Woodbridge band Falling From Trees as well as names like Biscuit Brothers and In My Disguise.
One of the main aims of the organisers was to include new and up and coming acts.
New acts such as world jazz group Mambo Churtney and funk act Soul Riot were among the new faces to the festival as were youngsters from Rock Project.
“We had the kids from Ipswich-based Rock Project play for us this festival” said Marco Spina, the other half of the myFestival management.
“They are always so keen, a great way to open the festival.
“Not only is it great entertainment for the audience, but it also gives the members of The Rock Project great experience in performing in-front of an unknown audience, and the stresses of setting up and sound checking to tight timescales.
“They did a great job as usual.”
As well as live music there were also a number of silent discos.
The discos involve attendees wearing headphones with each able to switch between three DJ’s to whom they can listen.
Among the DJ’s taking part this year were Lewis from Friday Fox Recordings, and Pietro Santonocito and Lorenzo Cavallaro from Italy.
“Pietro and Lorenzo flew over from Italy especially for the festival”said Mr Spina.
“They had a great time and were hugely popular with the crowd”.
After two weekends of music and busy DJ demonstrations at the Suffolk Show the team are preparing for more events for the summer.
“We’ve got several events in the pipeline” said Mr Matthews, “not just for live music, but also around cinema for the first time.”
