TAMIL protestors have occupied a bridge in London to call for an end to violence in Sri Lanka.

Around 5,000 angry demonstrators gathered around the Houses of Parliament yesterday to voice opposition to the Sri Lankan government's crack-down on the Tamil Tiger rebels in the north of the country.

The number of protestors dropped to around 900 during the night, but police warned traffic could be disrupted as Westminster Bridge and roads in the area remained closed this morning.

According to the protesters the lives of thousands of civilians in the Mullaithivu district of war-torn Sri Lanka are in danger.
