A POLICEMAN who was stabbed in an attack in Ipswich today has been named as PC Tony Owens.
The 29-year-old is recovering in hospital following the incident near the town centre at about 2.50am.
PC Owens is in his sixth year with the police and lives with his wife and two children, aged two and five, in the Woodbridge area.
He was stabbed in the abdomen after answering a call to an activated alarm at a business premises in St Helen's Street.
A 42-year-old man is in custody at Ipswich Police Station in connection with the incident.
