SHOCKED stadium bosses have told how their official website had been hijacked by cyber-criminals and used to advertise pornography.

The family-run Mildenhall Stadium in West Row pulls in crowds from across the region for its speedway and dog race events.

But just weeks after the stadium owners paid for its vans to be re-painted to proudly display their website, customers started ringing up warning them of a problem with their website.

When Dave and Ron Coventry, joint owners of the stadium, clicked on their own website they were redirected to another site advertising what the brothers called “adult material”.

They also found it virtually impossible to escape from the website because every time they attempted to close the screen fresh pop-up screens kept emerging on their computer screens.

Dave Coventry said: "It was certainly a very nasty surprise and shock when we found out what had happened to the official stadium website.

"We have no idea who is behind this or what their intentions our but obviously we feel it is very harmful to the reputation of the stadium which is very much geared towards a family environment, something this site clearly isn't.

"Our main priority at the moment is to get the word out to people who want to find out more about the stadium not to log on at the mildenhallstadium.com site until we have found a way to cure this hi-jacking. Although we don't know for sure we are very suspicious that this Worst Website Ever may carry some sort of viruses to anyone who vists it so obviously we want to protect our customers from this.

"It is particularly upsetting and sickening that we pride ourselves on being a great place for families to come and have a great evening out and it is most ironic that whoever is behind this stunt has very little family morals based on the content this site advertises.

"In the meantime we would urge everyone to instead visit our new site which can be found at www.rdcpromotions.cjb.net and then clicking on Mildenhall Stadium which carries a full stadium calendar as well as news and full details on all the events which take place there.

"It is especially frustrating for us as the majority of our advertising features the mildenhallstadium.com address and we have recently had several staff vehicles sign written with this website as well.”

Mildenhall Stadium promotes greyhound racing every Tuesday and Friday throughout October and every Friday and Saturday and every other Tuesday in November and December and stages regular stockcar and banger racing and speedway racing.

To keep up to date with events at the stadium, members of the public can visit www.rdcpromotions.cjb.net and click on Mildenhall Stadium. The brothers are working urgently to get the main website back up and running properly.
