Refurbishment work at Ipswich Cineworld multiplex on Cardinal Park is nearing completion with the re-opening of a Starbucks coffee shop at the site.
The coffee shop has moved from the first floor to part of the main foyer – and includes an outdoor area in front of the cinema.
Work elsewhere in the cinema is continuing – a new screen has been created on the first floor above the entrance and the cinema screens are getting new seats and carpets. The layout of the foyer is being changed as well.
A spokeswoman for Cineworld said there was still no final finish date for the work – but when it was complete there would be a reopening ceremony.
The cinema has remained open while the work is being completed – and the refurbishment comes just months after the opening of the rival Empire Cinema in the town’s Buttermarket shopping centre which doubled the number of screens in the town.
