He joined 140 revellers at a breathtaking evening of music and dancing at the County Hotel Copdock who raised an amazing £3,500 for Suffolk charity Disability Care Enterprise.

With Barry Dye behind the grand event it comes as no surprise the night was a roaring success.

For the ball celebrated the entertainment agent's incredible 30 years in the business.

Barry, 59, said: "It was a fantastic evening. It was a great atmosphere and I am delighted with the money raised for DCE which is a charity close to my heart."

Barry was the man responsible for discovering Shane Richie in 1984 and his career has been on the up ever since.

The black tie event included dinner, dancing to band Music Express, international illusionist Chris North, comedian Ian Richards, magician Mike Rose and a charity auction led by Shane.

Among the prizes up for grabs was a Fred Olsen mini-cruise, villa in Spain for a week, Ipswich Town Football club signed shirt, Liverpool football club signed football and programme plus a tour of the squadron at Wattisham airfield.

Barry said: "The whole purpose was to celebrate 30 years in the business. I wanted to do something special so I thought a black tie ball which raises money at the same time.

"It was a fabulous night. There were two marquees up, star cloth and special lighting. I would like to thank everybody who supported me on the night – those who donated prizes, money and people who made a bid at the auction. I would also like to thank my wife, Cindy, 50, for all her support over the years."

He chose DCE as the beneficiary after being involved in the charity since it started.
