SUMMER may have barely started but things are autumn is already hotting up as a number of concerts set to take place in Ipswich are announced.

The town's Regent Theatre is now announcing acts who will be adding Ipswich to their autumn touring schedules and this year will see some favourite regular performers returning.

As revealed in later editions of the Evening Star and on our website yesterday, soul star Beverley Knight is set to return to the venue as part of nationwide tour in October.

Last year's concert by the singer in November was a huge hit and now Knight is preparing to tour once again to coincide with the release of her new album, Music City Soul.

But ahead of her performance will be two nights by one of the town's most popular guests - Daniel O'Donnell.

The Irish singer has long been a favourite at the Regent and he will once again been returning to perform on his autumn tour.

As well as keeping his legions of dedicated fans happy, O'Donnell's performances will also be the first in the new look Regent Theatre auditorium, which is set to undergo a £500,000 transformation this summer.

His concerts in September will be the first of the autumn season at the Regent.

No Regent autumn season would be complete without an appearance by evergreen rockers Status Quo and the group are set to return in November.

Their new tour for this year has been named the In Search Of The Fourth Chord Tour and will see the band performing all their greatest hits.

Concerts at the Regent Theatre have been given a boost in recent years as more and more stars add Ipswich to their musical map.

The town is becoming an essential stop-off point and the major refurbishment work planned for the Regent is expected to see it's image strengthened even further.

Beverley Knight will be at the Regent on Tuesday October 30, tickets go on sale on Friday.

Daniel O'Donnell will be performing on Monday September 17 and Tuesday September 18, tickets go on sale on Saturday May 5. For people choosing to buy tickets in person, rather than online or buy phone, they will only be available from the Regent Theatre box office.

Status Quo will be at the Regent on Sunday November 11 and Monday November 12, tickets go on sale on Friday April 27.
