TWO men stole a mobile phone from another man in Stowmarket yesterday after they stopped to ask him for directions.

TWO men stole a mobile phone from another man in Stowmarket yesterday after they stopped to ask him for directions.

The victim was walking along Needham Road between 9.25pm and 9.45pm and as he approached the junction with the A1120, was approached by the robbers, who engaged him in conversation.

As they spoke one of the men took hold of his arms and the other took the phones, before they ran off towards the town centre.

The victim, who was wearing a yellow fluorescent jacket, was not hurt.

The first offender is described as 5ft 8in to 5ft 9in and of large build, in his late 20s, clean shaven with very short hair and of mixed race, wearing light coloured jogging bottoms and zip-up top. He spoke with an English accent.

The second offender is described as white, of slim build, with brown hair which is long on top.

He was wearing trousers and a dark coloured leather jacket and spoke with a foreign, possible eastern European accent.
