FAMILIES in distress in Felixstowe are to receive a helping hand after a charity secured funding to expand.

Home-Start Suffolk Coastal, based in Woodbridge, is delighted that Suffolk County Council stepped in with a grant when the Community Fund of the National Lottery did not give enough money.

The Lottery gave nearly £180,000 which ensured that the existing service could continue and next month Home-Start will move into bigger offices in Cedar House, Pytches Road, Woodbridge.

Caroline Hawksley, Suffolk Coastal organiser, said dock workers on shifts, very young parents and socially isolated families in Felixstowe were among those who would benefit.
