IPSWICH Town striker Alan Lee will not face charges over a collision which left a cyclist in hospital with serious injuries.

The 28-year-old who also plays internationally for the Republic of Ireland was driving his Porsche Carrera 911 in Mill Street, Dedham, when he was involved in the accident.

The cyclist, a 31-year-old also from Parson's Field, Dedham, was taken to Colchester General Hospital with a broken leg and internal injuries.

A spokeswoman for Essex police said: “The investigation is concluded and there will be no prosecution against either the cyclist or the motorist.”

Mr Lee was not injured in the collision but afterwards said he had been left shaken, and was being kept informed of the progress of the cyclist while he was in hospital.

He moved to Town in February 2006 in a £150,000 deal from Cardiff City and established himself as a favourite with fans after finishing as the team's top scorer last season netting 17 times during the campaign.
