The Met Office has issued a new weather warning for heavy rain in Suffolk and north Essex on Sunday.

The new warning extends across our region and is currently in place from 6am on Sunday morning until midnight Sunday.

Forecasters believe that “a spell of persistent and at times heavy rain is likely on Sunday.”

The Met Office warning suggests that “spray and flooding on roads probably making for difficult driving conditions and longer journey times.”

In addition “bus and train services probably affected with some journey times taking longer” while “flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible.”

A level of uncertainty still surrounds the exact path of the rain on Sunday but forecasters believe that many places could see around 20-30mm of rain with up to 50mm possible in more isolated areas.

Another yellow weather warning for high winds is already in place from 9am onwards on Sunday morning.

Forecaster are now concerned that the strengthened winds could cause large waves in coastal areas.
