SUFFOLK celebrity Peggy Cole today spoke of her sadness at the killing of Amish children in an American community she visited 15 years ago.
Mrs Cole visited the Pennsylvania region while on a lecture tour in 1991.
She spent three weeks giving talks on gardening in Lancaster County, where Charles Carl Roberts IV tied the girls up and then shot them in the head at their school.
“I do feel for them,” she said. “I have always admired the Amish sect and their way of life. I stayed in a bed and breakfast run by them and you couldn't wish for better people.”
