Video of a woman apparently stealing a charity box from an Ipswich pub has provoked outrage in the community.
The CCTV, which appears to show a woman taking the box from the bar at Mannings in Cornhill has been shared nearly 5,000 times and viewed by more than 140,000 people.
A spokesman for Suffolk Constabulary said: “Police received a report of the theft of a charity box at Mannings public house in Ipswich at around 1pm on Monday 30 July.
“The theft is reported to have taken place at around 10.20pm on Thursday 26 July. An investigation is under way and enquiries are on-going.”
People sharing the video on social media said it was an St Elizabeth Hospice charity box and described the thief as a “low life”.
“I hope she gets caught and goes to jail, no matter how much was in that box,” said one person.
