A SUFFOLK man has been arrested after a head on road smash left a teenager with serious leg injuries, police today confirmed.

Essex police announced a 36-year-old man was arrested after a head on smash between a Yamaha moped and a Peugeot 406.

A spokesman for Essex police said: "The crash happened at 11.30pm on Saturday July 16 on the B1064 Borley Road at Foxearth.

"A 16-year-old female rider was taken to West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds with serious leg injuries. Her condition is described as stable. The 406 failed to stop after the crash."

The spokesman said the 36-year-old was arrested for a number of motoring offences and has been released on police bail.
