A selection of Suffolk suppliers will be part of a national scheme promoting the importance of including quality produce on our shopping lists.

Red Tractor Week kicks of on September 15, when selected schools will also be visiting assured farms to see sound practices in action.

Among those taking part in the initiative, led by food assurance scheme Red Tractor, will be Gressingham Duck, based just outside Woodbridge, the Denham Estate near Bury St Edmunds, where the Red Tractor product is Denham Castle Lamb, Hadleigh soft fruit grower Lindsey Lodge Farm, the Greene King brewery, Hill Farm Oils, in Heveningham, where the Fairs family cold presses rapeseed into premium cooking oil, and the Waveney Mushrooms cooperative at Bungay.

Each are endorsed by Red Tractor for producing, packing, storing and transporting goods to its assured standards.

Along with industry bodies and education experts, Red Tractor has been working to produce teaching resources for school pupils and has launched a national schools competition to get children thinking about where their food originates.

Red Tractor Week will be backed by farmer, food writer and Blur bassist Alex James.
