SHE may only be 16 but schoolgirl Laura Wright is tipped for the top as the classical girl group she sings with are among the hot favourites for this years Christmas number one.

The teenager is among four members of the new classical group All Angels and bookies have made the group the second favourite to hit the coveted festive top spot in the charts with their cover of the Robbie Williams ballad Angels.

Currently a pupil at Framlingham College, Laura was chosen from thousands of hopefuls to be part of All Angels after the group was put together earlier this year.

The current BBC Radio 2 Young Chorister of the Year, who lives in Framsden, is combining studying for her A-levels with being in the group, who release their debut album tomorrow.

The cover of Angels is a charity track that will be released on December 18 and has been named the official single of the British Legion Poppy Appeal. Despite being one of Robbie Williams' most popular songs, Angels didn't make it to number one when he released it in 1997.

Bookies William Hill have given odds of 7-1 for the group to get the Christmas number one, putting them second favourites behind the yet to be decided X-Factor winner.

Sir Cliff Richard, who is releasing a cover of his classic track Move It, featuring Queen's Brian May, is also a favourite, along with Take That.

Others tipped for the top include The Puppini sisters, Tony Christie's cover of the classic Beach Boys track God Only Knows, and a seasonally themed release from the Crazy Frog.

William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams said: “Christmas Number One is a national institution with hundreds of thousands bet annually on the winner, all of which has been changed by the X Factor, which is in danger of becoming the Scrooge of Christmas Number One betting. We can only hope that groups such as Take That and All Angels can break the mould.”
