AN intrepid oarsman has revealed an incredible new challenge - he will bid to be the first person to row solo around the world in an ordeal which would be the longest-ever rowing boat voyage.

Oliver Hicks, of Woodbridge, will start his 15,000 mile, two-year voyage across some of the world's most dangerous seas in October or November from either Wellington, New Zealand; Australia or Argentina.

It comes three years after the 26-year-old became the youngest person to row solo from America to Britain in a voyage which took four months and saw him greeted at the finish in Cornwall by Prince William.

The boat for his next challenge, called the Virgin Global Row, is currently being fitted out in Suffolk.
