Talented students at Suffolk New College organised and filmed their own Jools Holland-style show showcasing some of Suffolk’s brightest talent.

The United Sounds event was organised by level three media students, and featured around 30 students and staff setting up and recording a concert at Ipswich Corn Exchange.

The bands included emerging talent Impilo and Fick as Fieves, filmed in the style of Later with Jools Holland to an audience of 100.

Media teacher and executive producer Jon Saward said: “Everyone worked tirelessly behind the scenes and it all came together. It was exhausting but then producing a live TV event is. It gave our students a real window into this world.

“The industry is seen as being quite glamorous and it can be at times.

“However, it’s important that our learners get to be involved in situations like this as it gives them a chance to make more informed choices about their futures.”
