Music technology students at Suffolk New College got a special insight into the industry thanks to a backstage visit to a gig by The Killers at the O2 Arena in London.
The students got the prestigious passes thanks to a tie up with Creative and Cultural Skills’ Steve Cheney – a former stage manager for Glastonbury and Reading and Leeds Festivals – who offered them a tour of the work in the build up to a gig.
David Nickerson-Smith, music technology teacher who has previously worked with The Darkness and Kaiser Chiefs, said: “The whole idea of this is to help music students get into situations they wouldn’t ordinarily get to be in.
“The talk gave students a real insight into the range of jobs that you can get in the music business.
“The trip gave our students lots of roles to aspire towards. They were also able to see how what we teach them works in practice.”
