Are you among the many people pictured from the Ipswich May Day Festival at Alexandra Park in 1999?
Thousands of people descended on Alexandra Park yesterday in celebration of Ipswich’s 40th May Day Festival.
This gallery remembers the event 19 years ago in 1999.
While it didn’t have quite the same level of glorious sunshine as this year, it still attracted the large crowd that it is well known for.
Since its inception in 1978 the event has expanded from a small fun day to a festival boasting three main stages and attracting thousands of people each year.
The festival also marks International Workers Day, and is organised by Ipswich & District Trade Union Council.
It is free to attend and takes place in Alexandra Park each year with live music, rides, children games, food and much more for families and everyone to enjoy.
