Emergency service workers wearing protective suits were last night investigating the death of a man at an Ipswich home where there was a strong smell of chemicals.
Suffolk police said a man aged in his 60s was found dead at a property in Reavell Place - a private road overlooking the river - just after 9pm.
“Inquiries to establish the exact circumstances are ongoing,” a police spokesman added,
“The cause of death is yet to be confirmed, but at this stage it is not being treated as suspicious.”
“Due to the strong smell of chemicals coming from the property, emergency services wore special protective clothing.
“However, the public should be reassured that there’s no wider threat of contamination in the area.”
Members of the public reported seeing police, fire engines ambulances and emergency response units in the area. Reavell Place is near to Ranelagh Road and Gippeswyck Park.
