A woman is alleged to have been the victim of a serious sexual assault near to a popular Ipswich bar and restaurant.

Suffolk police said officers received reports of an attack which happened in the early hours of this morning in or around Grand Central, which is beside the waterfront.

Police tape has been set around the venue and officers were on the scene this morning.

A police spokesman said specialist officers were supporting the victim.

Officers are expected to make a witness appeal later today.
