SOUTHWOLD has been named as a top resort, above its Spanish equivalents.
Coast magazine rated four resorts from each country based on temperature, facilities, beach quality, cost and eco-friendliness.
Bournemouth, Porthminster, Southwold and West Sands came out on top, above the Spanish competition Santander, Alicante, La Coruna and Malaga.
Bournemouth in Dorset was named as the best resort while Southwold was hailed for providing a “quintessentially British” experience.
Judges said the Spanish resorts all scored well for their warmer climate, but dropped points on price, natural beauty and eco-friendliness.
