SUFFOLK'S tourism leaders gathered yesterday to launch a marketing campaign to promote a Great Days Out in Suffolk initiative ahead of the prime tourist season.

Spearheaded by the Choose Suffolk Tourism Parntership, with support from Visit Suffolk Attractions, the campaign highlights the vast choice of things to do for a great day trip in Suffolk, from historic castles and world-class heritage sites, farm parks, zoos, nature reserves and theme parks to museums and gardens.

Worth 759million, the day trip market is a key economic driver for tourism within the county and the campaign is looking to spark interest among both Suffolk residents and visitors to the area.

A key element of the campaign is the Great Days Out in Suffolk booklet which details numerous options for day trips around the county along with money saving offers. With a distribution of 330,000, it is widely available throughout the county from Tourist Information Centres, visitor attractions, supermarkets and transport outlets.

Choose Suffolk Tourism Partnership is also set to reveal its new website next week with even more ideas for memorable days out in the county.

“Suffolk has a wealth of great destinations for day trips spanning coast and countryside and this campaign is all about reminding people about the fantastic things to do close to home,” said Alex Paul, manager at Choose Suffolk.
