AN ARCTIC blast across the country may cause a snow shower in Suffolk this weekend.

A plunge of cold Arctic air will sweep across the region, meaning temperatures will dip to a chilly 5C, 41F.

The mild Autumn days will be like a forgotten memory as a cold wind is coming in from Friday, bringing with it wintry showers of either snow, sleet or hail.

Weatherman Ken Blowers said: “It will start about Friday and carry on to Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The temperature will be well below the average for the end of November.

“In the air stream there will be wintry showers, which could include snow, sleet or hail. This will be the coldest spell so far this Autumn.”

The weather will remain fairly mild until Friday when the Arctic winds hit. Suffolk will not be among the worst affected as temperatures are expected to plunge to 3C (37F) in parts of Scotland and North Yorkshire, causing heavy snow, but with wind chill, this will feel like minus 10C (14F).

Forecasters are blaming the alteration on a change in wind direction with Arctic gusts replacing the mild south-west Atlantic breezes enjoyed in recent weeks.
