The most and least popular baby names of 2017 have been revealed by the Office of National statistics, find out where your child’s name ranks and how it has fared over the past century.

Oliver remained the most popular first name given to baby boys in England and Wales in 2017, a position held since 2013; while the female version, Olivia, was top of the pops when it came to girl’s names - retaining the title for a second year.

New names to join the list of boy’s names this year include Hunter and Ralph, while Aaron and Jasper fell out of the top 100.

Aurora, Orla, Edith, Bonnie, Lyla and Hallie all joined the top 100 girl’s names this year, they replaced the names Lexi, Zoe, Maddison, Sarah, Felicity and Lydia.

Baby names have been recorded since 1904 and the statistics are taken from the births register.
