FIRE crews attended undergrowth, tree and hedge fires yesterday as the hot weather continued in Suffolk.

At 10.15pm firefighters went to Lakeside Road in Ipswich where a tree stump was alight. They spent ten minutes bringing the flames under control.

At 8.30pm two appliances from Felixstowe went to Bridge Road where an area of trees, hedging and fencing in two properties was alight. It took 15 minutes for them to control the flames.

Crews from Woodbridge and Orford attended Sutton picnic site at 5pm where 40sqm of undergrowth was alight, spending around 90minutes tackling the blaze.

At 3.25pm, five fire engines were sent to tackle a blaze involving 300sqm of undergrowth on heath land along the A1101 at Lackford, near Bury St Edmunds. The blaze was put out by 4.15pm.
