Suffolk User Forum and Action for Happiness team up to launch mental health support course

A new partnership has been formed to offer “unique and inspiring” workshops across Suffolk for people suffering with mental ill health and emotional difficulties.

The Suffolk User Forum (SUF) has teamed up with Action for Happiness to provide the eight-week Exploring What Matters courses, which will run from April next year.

SUF is an Ipswich-based charity that works to promote emotional and mental wellbeing. Action for Happiness is a movement of people committed to building a happier and more caring society and counts the Dalai Lama as one of its patrons.

Speaking at a meeting at the John Peel Centre in Stowmarket, SUF manager Jayne Davey said: “The course is unique and inspiring and is based upon the latest scientific evidence around how to achieve happiness and emotional wellbeing.

“As a service user led organisation we are encouraging new approaches to achieving well-being learning from developments across the world which has enabled people to build on their strengths, to feel valued and connected. The Exploring What Matters workshops are very much part of this approach and each session has a theme such as what really matters in life? What actually makes us happy and how should we treat others.
