Children in Ipswich can join a new multi-activity holiday club this summer, launched by Sainsbury’s and not-for-profit health body ukactive.

The town is one of the few areas taking part in the trial, which is designed to help children from five to 15 lead healthier lives, get active, and eat well, while enjoying the summer with friends.

Children taking part will be offered a week of activities, including gymnastics, tennis, cricket, dodgeball and football alongside active play, dance and arts and crafts.

The Ipswich clubs will be based at Clifford Road Primary School from July 30 to August 31, running from 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. Parents will need to redeem 200 Nectar points to make a booking, plus a £7.50 fee per child, per day, which includes a healthy lunch and snacks.

Steven Ward, CEO of ukactive, said: “Today’s children are the least active generation ever and are more likely to lead a shorter life than their parents. Our research shows that there is a huge fall in children’s fitness levels during the holidays, due to the changes in their daily routine around exercise and meals.

“The Active Kids holiday clubs are a great way to make physical activity and nutrition part of the summer again, using a safe, familiar and fun environment.”

The clubs will be hosted by Premier Education. For more details and to book, visit the website.
