Nothing says summertime like a day on the Suffolk or Essex coast with an ice cream and a paper packet of chips.
School is out for the summer, which means that hundreds of families will be flocking to Felixstowe and Clacton to enjoy a day by the sea.
We may no longer have our fish and chips wrapped in newspaper, deck chairs in abundance or guaranteed August sunshine, but we do still have a glorious coastline to be enjoyed by the masses.
It is a favourite past time which stems the generations, as these pictures taken from our archives show.
People of all ages can be seen enjoying the hot summer weather on Clacton beach in 1967 and 1979 and on Felixstowe beach in 1985.
This year, visitors to Felixstowe can enjoy the revamped pier, which reopened last weekend after almost a year of closure.
