The Chantry branch of the weight loss organisation Slimming World has collectively lost 267 stone so far this year – that’s the equivalent of 18 baby elephants. Rachel Batchelor, who runs the group, said: “That’s what makes it worthwhile – seeing people change and how confident there are now doing things they could never do before.”
The group meets every Tuesday at Suffolk New Academy and has helped around 65 members since January. Member Lisa Mallett said: “The support and friendship I have received since joining has made me feel so positive about my weight loss journey.
“I have a long way to go, but have already come so far.”
