AN Ipswich man challenging the appointment of the county's £220,000 chief executive Andrea Hill is today enjoying the backing of the people of Suffolk.

Peter Turtill has vowed to take the matter to court after a district auditor probing the appointment process found a number of mistakes but opted not to take the matter to a higher level.

Legislation states that a single registered voter in Suffolk can challenge the decision of the district auditor not to take further action on such an issue and can even prompt a court ruling on the matter.

Mr Turtill's stand has received the support of a number of people who have left supportive comments on The Evening Star website.

Paul Valentine said: “Well done, mate. It's about time Suffolk County Council is made to see the error of their ways, wasting council tax money like this. We do not need Andrea Hill.”

Meanwhile Hayley and Lee said: “Well done, that man. We sincerely hope Mr Turtill gets the answers that Suffolk needs to hear.”
