FIVE sheds in four gardens have been destroyed in a suspicious fire on an Ipswich housing estate.

Saturday morning's blaze in the garden of homes on Morland Road and Fletcher Road on the Gainsborough estate was brought under control by firefighters within 30 minutes and no one was hurt in the incident.

However, Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service's sub officer Chris Gibbs, who led the team which fought the blaze, said firefighters always had concerns about fighting shed fires.

He said: “This was clearly suspicious and it was relatively straightforward for us to deal with.

“But there is always a worry when you go to a shed fire because you never know exactly what is inside.

“On this occasion householders lost some personal belongings but there were no real hazards.”

A section of fencing was also destroyed in the blaze.
