OLYMPIC swimming star Karen Pickering was today on hand to give her support to a charity appeal.

Ms Pickering MBE was helping the NSPCC launch it's Big Bike Ride 2007 at Ipswich Sports Club in Henley Road.

The Big Bike Ride is taking place on June 29 to July 1 and will involve people from across the country who will be taking part in cycling events to raise funds for the children's charity.

Ms Pickering said: “Last year thousands of people took part in hundreds of Big Bike Ride events up and down the country and raised much needed funds for the NSPCC to give children someone to turn to.

Please help to make the 2007 Big Bike Ride even more successful and make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children in this area.”

Anyone interested in organising an event for the Big Bike Ride can get a free information pack by logging on to www.nspcc.org.uk/bigbikeride or call 08451303073.
