Leroy Russell, of Rope Walk, Ipswich, admitted possessing an offensive weapon namely a sword.

Andrew Jackson, prosecuting at Ipswich Crown Court, said police officers went to Ipswich station and saw the defendant standing on a platform.

Russell had said: "Do you want me" and officers noticed a Japanese sword sticking out of a blue holdall.

Jeremy Dugdale, for Russell, said his client had been in custody since July 27 and asked the court to impose a sentence which would allow his client to be released immediately.
