TRAFFIC came to a near-standstill for an hour on Suffolk road tonight following a smash involving two cars.
The accident caused congestion in both directions as traffic stretched in a two-mile tailback between Hintlesham and Hadleigh after two cars were involved in a collision on the A1071 at around 5.40pm.
Luckily not one of the four people involved in the smash were hurt, although a police officer on the scene said that they were "shocked and shaken".
The accident, which involved a blue B-reg Volvo and a red F-reg Fiesta happened on a bend in the road at Hintlesham Hall.
Police reopened the road by 6.45pm.
